Target Audience

The educational design of this activity addresses the needs of clinical and community pharmacists involved in the care of patients at risk for HIV infection.

Program Overview

Pharmacists must expand their skills as new legislation in many states empowers them to add prescribing and provision of preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and postexposure prophylaxis (PEP) to their practices. This case-based, online skills assessment activity is a supplement to the online monograph, Pharmacist-Led PEP/PrEP: A Comprehensive HIV Prevention Guide. In a series of three interactive cases, learners will apply their PrEP and PEP skills and knowledge to scenarios in a pharmacy setting.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Demonstrate key principles of oral PrEP initiation and monitoring
  • Define eligibility and dosing for nPEP based on patient history

Instructions to Receive Credit

In order to receive credit for this activity, the participant must complete the preactivity questionnaire, score at least 70% on the posttest, and complete the program evaluation. Pharmacists must check CPE monitor for their credit within 60 days of activity completion.
