Cardiovascular Considerations in COPD Management

Target Audience

The educational design of this activity addresses the needs of primary care and pulmonology clinicians who manage patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Program Description

With cardiovascular disease coexisting in up to 60% of COPD cases, optimal management of each disease is imperative to successful patient outcomes. In this Phone-a-Friend episode, Dr. MeiLan Han consults with Dr. Ty Gluckman to discuss a patient with a 5-year history of COPD and cardiovascular risk factors that may be contributing to his persistent symptoms.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

• Describe recent clinical trial data and guideline updates related to triple-combination inhaled therapies for COPD
• Tailor maintenance regimens for patients with COPD to reflect disease severity, treatable traits, exacerbation risks, comorbidities, and patient preferences
