Chapter 1: T2 Inflammation and COPD

Target Audience

The educational design of this activity addresses the needs of pulmonologists and other clinicians (e.g., pulmonary nurse practitioners and physician associates, allergists/clinical immunologists, and primary care clinicians) who manage patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Program Overview

Recent scientific advances have led to better understanding of the inflammatory pathways involved in development of COPD, and which type of inflammation will respond best to different therapies. In this Hot Topics activity, an expert faculty will describe the underlying inflammatory pathways that lead to development of COPD, with a focus on type 2 inflammation and its clinical manifestations and implications.

Educational Objective

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

• Discuss the roles of type 2 inflammation and eosinophils in the pathophysiology of COPD
