NY Part 1: CAR T Cell Therapy in NHL

Target Audience

This educational activity will address identified knowledge and practice gaps among community hematologists and oncologists who refer patients with B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) to CAR T-cell treatment centers.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

• Recognize patients with NHL early in their disease course who may be appropriate candidates for referral to CAR T-cell therapy
• Evaluate the efficacy and safety profiles of FDA-approved CAR T-cell constructs for the treatment of NHL
• Outline best practices for monitoring, mitigating, and managing both short- and long-term adverse events associated with CAR T-cell therapy
• Implement strategies to enhance multidisciplinary collaboration between CAR T-cell centers and community practices to address barriers in referral and care delivery
• Employ patient-centered communication strategies to enhance understanding and shared decision making regarding the benefits and risks of CAR T-cell therapy

Program Overview

In this initial CAR T-Cell Therapy in Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (NHL): Coordination of Care Between Our Center and Yours workshop, learners will be guided through a review of currently approved CAR T-cell therapies, the clinical efficacy and safety data that led to their approval, and guideline recommendations for their use across NHL subtypes. In addition, learners will also receive guidance on how to determine patient eligibility for CAR T-cell treatment, review strategies to overcome barriers to CAR T-cell therapy implementation, discuss the identification and management of adverse events once patients have transferred back to a community care setting, and understand the importance of continued communication with treatment centers. Throughout the workshop, learners will have the opportunity to submit any questions they may have through the “Ask the Expert” chat box. All questions will be compiled and  used to shape the content for follow-up educational videos; responses will also be provided following the workshop.
