Target Audience

The educational design of this activity addresses the needs of clinical and community pharmacists involved in the care of patients at risk for HIV.

Program Overview

This activity will focus on practical considerations for implementing preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) services for HIV prevention in a pharmacy setting. Looking at PrEP access through a health equity lens, faculty will reflect on real-world patient perspectives and give strategies for how pharmacists can help efforts to end the HIV epidemic.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Identify best practices for initiating sexual behavior and health discussions with patients who may be at increased risk of HIV acquisition
  • Describe safety and clinical indications of available PrEP medications
  • Explain pharmacy-based models for PrEP initiation, monitoring, and follow-up

Instructions to Receive Credit

In order to receive credit for this activity, the participant must score at least 75% on the posttest and complete the program evaluation. Pharmacists must check the CPE Monitor for credits within 60 days of the activity. Credit for pharmacists cannot be issued after 60 days.
