Target Audience
The educational design of this activity addresses the needs of primary care providers (PCPs), nurse practitioners (NPs), and physician assistants (PAs), involved in HIV prevention services for their patients.
Program Overview
This activity provides learners with opportunities to “go for it!” and explore ways to conduct a sexual history, create a safe space to build patient trust, and discuss HIV testing and clinical eligibility for PrEP with their patients.
Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
- Determine patient risk of HIV infection and eligibility for PrEP by initiating a patient-provider dialog regarding sexual health and behavior
- Discuss strategies to reduce stigma related to sexual health, PrEP use, and HIV
- Employ shared decision-making strategies to individualize PrEP management
