Target Audience

This activity addresses identified knowledge and practice gaps among primary care and internal medicine clinicians related to the early identification and referral of patients with suspected primary biliary cholangitis (PBC).

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Recognize clinical symptoms and deranged laboratory markers of PBC for the timely diagnosis and referral to specialty care
  • Describe PBC to your patients and work alongside specialists to support their management journey

Program Overview

This Insights to Impact™ program, designed for primary care clinicians, serves as the first activity in a comprehensive educational series focused on improving the timely recognition and management of PBC. In this activity, learners will focus on interpreting cholestatic liver enzyme patterns that should prompt further evaluation and workup as well as identifying key clinical features of PBC—including fatigue, pruritus, and associated autoimmune conditions. The activity highlights the diagnostic criteria for PBC, the importance of referral to specialty care, and the role of multidisciplinary collaboration in optimizing patient outcomes.
