The Dual Realities of the Opioid Epidemic and Rising Maternal HCV Rates: What the OB/GYN Needs to Know!

Target Audience

The educational design of this activity addresses the needs of primary care clinicians potentially involved in screening, counseling, or treating hepatitis C virus (HCV).

Program Overview

With alarming increases in the incidence of maternal HCV, your obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) practice plays a critical role in screening of all pregnant patients and engaging HCV-infected women who otherwise may not seek medical care. This educational activity will provide practical tactics for implementing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) screening guidelines at the practice level, insights for destigmatizing behavioral risk inquiries and harm-reduction discussions, current recommendations for postpartum HCV treatment, and evolving perspectives on HCV treatment during pregnancy.^1,2
