Program Description

This Mechanisms to Medicine symposium will explore the evolving management of uncontrolled and resistant hypertension, with a focus on the underlying pathophysiology driving disease progression and treatment resistance. Expert faculty will review the role of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, the clinical evidence for approved and emerging therapies, including aldosterone synthase inhibitors, and the latest recommendations for individualized patient care. Through case-based discussions, participants will gain practical strategies to optimize treatment selection and improve blood pressure control in patients with uncontrolled and resistant hypertension.

Target Audience

This educational activity has been designed to educate primary care providers (PCPs), internal medicine clinicians, and other healthcare providers (HCPs) who manage patients with hypertension.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be better prepared to:

  1. Explain the pathophysiologic roles of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system in hypertension, including contributions to uncontrolled and resistant disease and implications for new therapies
  2. Discuss the clinical profiles and evidence for new therapies, including aldosterone synthase inhibitors, in the treatment of uncontrolled and resistant hypertension
  3. Individualize therapeutic regimens for uncontrolled and resistant hypertension based on appropriate case identification, recommended blood pressure targets, treatment responses, and patient-specific risks
