Program Description

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to devastate the world, it is important for clinicians to recognize the most vulnerable populations, such as immunocompromised people. They are unlikely to mount a full response to COVID-19 vaccinations and have a higher risk of both severe outcomes if infected and easier transmission to uninfected people. An Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) was recently granted for pre-exposure prophylaxis in immunocompromised people, and it is critical that clinicians are aware of data, EUA criteria, and patient prioritization strategies. Dr. Jonathan Li discusses recent data supporting the EUA for pre-exposure prophylaxis, EUA criteria and administration instructions, and the effect of the Omicron variant on the course of the pandemic as well as available monoclonal antibodies.
