Although there is a relatively low incidence of invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) in the US, it is a major cause of meningitis and septicemia. These conditions can result in life-threatening complications and death for otherwise healthy children, adolescents, and young adults. In this Phone-a-Friend educational series, expert faculty will discuss IMD burden and outcomes, strategies to prioritize IMD prevention through vaccination, and encourage clinicians to capitalize on the availability of a novel pentavalent vaccine option to increase meningococcal vaccine series completion rates in eligible patients.
